SecurityScanner is a Windows tool for scanning IP address ranges on a network. It uses a variety of protocols such as ARP, ICMP, HTTP, SNMP, WMI and ONVIF to retrieve as much information about a device as possible.
Information such as device make / model, supplier, serial number, security IP camera still image and network port can be retrieved.
These results can then be exported to a PDF or Excel file.
In most cases, you must enter login details on the settings form before images can be retrieved. ONVIF and HTTP are used to retrieve these images. Only some brands are supported via HTTP (Axis, Sony, Hikvision, Samsung, Avigilon, Arecont), and even in these brands some models may not be supported, but the list grows over time. ONVIF must also be activated on the cameras, as this is often not the case by default.
To show which port a device is physically connected to and on which switch:
– SNMP V2c must be activated on the switch.
– The SNMP community must be correctly specified in the LANScanner settings section.
– The IP address for switch administration and other device IPs must be within the IP scan range.
When these criteria are met, the «Switch IP and Port» column must be completed. Note that some network switches use different OIDs for the port information. Contact brand and model support if you have any problems.
